Donnerstag 9. September

SSR Today - Every Thursday we do 15 minutes of Silent Sustained  Reading time.  They need to bring a book to read.

German 1 - We finished another culture quiz today.  Then the students got to pick out German names.  They had lots of fun choosing new "egos".  After that they got a homework assignment that is translating German cognates to their English counterparts.

German 2 - We watched our video "soap" to go with our textbook.  Today's episode was about Julia's birthday.  Then they read pages 222 and 225 in the book.

German 3 - They had a reading passage on pages 63-64 to do.  Then they did activities 2 and 3 on page 65.  They also did workbook page 46.

German 4 - The students read pages 227-228 in their textbooks and then worked on exercises 2 and 3 on page 29.
Es ist fast schon Freitag!  It's almost Friday!

Tschüss!

Mittwoch 8. September

On Wednesday the students turned in their syllabus signature page.  First assignment - yaa!

German 1-The students took a culture quiz to find out how much they knew about Germany or how good of guessers they were.  One student got 25/30 right-awesome.  Then they began another culture quiz that we will go over today in class.
German 2-The students picked out new German names!  Then we began chapter 8 by going over our new vocab.
German 3-The students jumped right into chapter 3 by going over new vocabulary and then reading page 62 in their textbook and exercise 1 on page 63.
German 4-They also began their new chapter by going over chapter 8 vocab and reading page 226.  They worked on workbook page 137 and worksheet page 122.

Looks like we're off to a great start.
Aufwiedersehen,

Das Schuljahr beginnt!

Willkommen in der Deutsch Klasse!!  Welcome back students.  It was so great to see all of you and meet my new German 1 students.  Today was an easy day.  All classes went over the syllabus and class rules.  Everyone's first homework assignment for tomorrow will be to return their signature page that goes with their syllabus.  Be sure to have mom or dad sign it too.  Thanks for a great first day & I'll see you all tomorrow.  Bis morgen!

Getting Ready For School

I've been busy over the last two weeks getting ready for my students. The classroom will look a little different-we had the carpet removed. The room is very bright now. Plus, I roll around really good on my chair. New bulletin boards have been put. I've been busy printing out materials for the first week of school. I'm so excited to see so many students back again-welcome back German 2, 3 &4. German 1 this year looks great-so many new students. I'm very excited to get to know you all of you.

Wednesday, June 30, 2010

Well, one month of summer has gone by and it is finally getting hot. No new information on the German trip. There are currently 10 students signed up. Unfortunately we didn't win the free trips. Darn. I'm starting to think about this fall already. I hope everyone has a wonderful 4th of July weekend. Have fun & Stay safe.
